If we ask Peggy Frey to describe herself, she defines herself as a " professional curious person. I put this curiosity to good use in the women's press for 15 years, notably at Madame Figaro " but also that she is messy, curious, hypochondriac, optimistic, nostalgic, mother hen, enthusiastic, happy, fearful... and that she is "trying to get by." On Instagram, this "new playground that gives her incredible pleasure" and where she gives free rein to her imagination, we discover that she is also "Mother of Nazes," which, let's face it, is much cooler than Danaerys's dragons.
All women have faced a struggle at one time or another. What was the biggest challenge in your life?
Not compromising on my life as a mother. I quickly felt that I would not sacrifice my life as a mother for a professional career. I always knew that entrusting my children to a nanny would frustrate me. I do not judge those who do it… I just have the deep conviction that it is not the pattern that suits me. However, there is no question of extinguishing this curiosity that drives me and this desire to share it. So I quickly understood that I would have to make choices. Turn down positions, forget about hierarchical advancement, draw a line under this or that title, take risks… I designed the job of my dreams. The one that allows me to live off this famous curiosity AND to be at the school gates at 4:30 p.m. It is a fight that may seem trivial, even futile, but it is indeed the most beautiful challenge that I have taken up so far. And I admit… I am very proud of it!
When do you feel you are showing strength ?
When I stay true to who I am, despite external pressures. The way others look at me can sometimes throw you off track. External malice can make you doubt yourself. It can also damage you sometimes. It requires great strength of character to resist; to not forget yourself. The key? Instinct. It is ultimately our greatest strength. I have learned to listen to it.
Made in turn of shadows and lights, such are women, echoing the moon that rules us. What is your share of light, what is your share of shadow?
I'm often told that my energy is contagious, that it radiates. Which, of course, fills my little heart with joy. The truth? I'm very nostalgic... I live a lot in the past, which can sometimes lead to little moments of calgon... My solution? Listen to Whole of the moon at full blast and it starts again!
Express your most important conviction, the one that guides your steps in life.
Things never happen by chance. My mantra has always been MAKE IT HAPPEN. You have to give yourself the means to achieve your goals. You have to know how to create your chances, go after them...
Mind upload. It's the starting point for the story of our heroine Alyh, who uploads her mind into a universe in which she evolves and surpasses herself. What abilities would you develop if this adventure were offered to you? (Which should be the case in 2040.)
I would love for our retina to record everything from our birth, a bit like a hard drive. The ultimate dream would be to be able to replay, as we saw it, a given day. I would probably go back one evening in August 1993. I'm 16 years old, on vacation in the south of France with my whole family. I hug my father. Bliss. And Bam, that nostalgia again.
What if you had a magic wand? How would you redefine our future, yours?
So, to be honest, every night, at the same time or almost, I dream of having a magic wand! Not at all to redefine the future but to remove my makeup in the snap of a finger! Yes, I know... it's lame and terribly down-to-earth... and fuck the future! Words of a nostalgic.
Never give up on…
…a good Savoyard fondue! Never underestimate the power of life’s little pleasures!
The best
The best is yet to come, right?
